WORLD CUP BOOK IS IDEAL FOR EVERY GENERATION
The country is in the middle of World Cup fever and those wishing to get further in the mood for the 'great show on earth' could do worse than take a look at Adam Pearson's new book.
The World cup Quiz Book is the latest success story to come from Apex Publishing – who have launched a series of sporting quiz books testing the knowledge of football fans – and sports fans in general.
Pearson's new book features a collection of 1,200 challenging quiz questions, spanning the history of the World Cup.
The book covers famous matches, unforgettable players and teams that laid claim the being the greatest.
There are dedicated pages to players like Martin Peters, Zinedine Zidane and the late Bobby Moore.
It's the fact that the book covers a wide variety of categories and also tournaments which helps add strength to it.
Not only can fans enjoy answering questions familiar to them – it's also, in many ways, like a history lesson.
The great thing about the World Cup is that it appeals to all age groups.
Everyone has a favourite tournament, often from childhood.
So for the older generation, it brings memories flooding back of England's 1966 heroes, through to 1986 and Maradona's Hand of God, Gazza's tears in 1990.
And so, Pearson's book is one that appeals to all generations and is well worth a read as interest in this summer's World Cup gathers momentum.
The World Cup Quiz Book is available from all good book stores.

THE WORLD CUP QUIZ BOOK
WITH the World Cup in South Africa just weeks away this book is a timely release for fans of the beautiful game.
The World Cup Quiz Book (£9.99, Apex Publishing) has more than 1,000 challenging and cunning questions to test even the most ardent footballing anoraks.
Covering the history of the biggest sporting event in the world since its inception in 1930, it contains brainteasers about the unforgettable players who have graced the tournament down the years, the memorable teams and managers, nail-biting matches and unearths a treasure trove of trivia.
For example, why was the 1974 final between West Germany and Holland delayed? And why did India refuse to play in the 1950 World Cup, despite qualifying.
With a no-frills listing of questions, it offers an Aladdin's Cave of facts and figures sure to stir up fans' memories (good and bad if you support England and Scotland), and sate their appetites in an easy to use and fun way.
The publishers and the book's compiler Adam Pearson, who is a football fan and has several sporting titles to his name, have agreed to donate £1 from each book sale to the Willow Foundation, a charity set up by Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife Megs.
The book comes with no pictures, but this does not dilute its appeal.
Former West Ham favourite and 1966 World Cup winner Martin Peters, MBE, has penned a fitting foreword and how England could do with his ilk in South Africa next month.

Did you know that in 1909 a tea tycoon organised an international football competition that is often referred to as the first World Cup? Do you know in what Portuguese city Luís Figo was born? Were you aware that David Beckham suffers from OCD, and do you know what OCD means? No? Then you need to read this book.
Being a Geordie lad, and a fanatical Toon Army supporter, I was heartened to find almost a dozen questions in this wonderful tome relating to Alan Shearer alone. If this demonstrates anything, its that the author has impeccable taste.
The World Cup Quiz Book is a fascinating account, in Q & A format, of one of sport's greatest events. The beauty is that you don't have to be a football fan to enjoy it. Pearson has crammed a shed load of facts and figures into this tome and in such a way that they transcend mathematics and statistics and almost come to life.
If you love football, and the World Cup, then you'll love this book. If you hate football then read it anyway; but be warned, you'll be converted. An absolute cracker that will give you the best excuse ever for not helping your missus do the washing up.
