What a wonderful and entertaining trip down memory lane The Children's TV Quiz Book is. There’s a veritable multitude of awe inspiring kid’s TV shows that come bounding back into your memory as you flick through the pages. There’s questions - some easy, some stinkers - amazing facts, fascinating trivia, and a whole heap of fun to be had here.
I always get a warm glow when someone comes up and tells me they have had many joyous hours watching Thunderbirds or Captain Scarlet or Stingray – it really makes me feel like I’ve done my job well. But let’s keep those happy hours ticking over with more and more quality kid’s telly because children today deserve happy memories of sprawling out on the couch and spending a bit of time with the old goggle box too. Save kid’s TV and save the future of imagination!

Utterly brilliant! Dean’s finally gone and done The Classic Children’s TV Quiz Book! He always said he would, and he always keeps his promises. Like the time he said he was going to conquer Iceland in the name of Her Majesty. He did too, albeit unsuccessfully, and now has to do all his shopping in Asda instead.
This book is going to bring back so many wonderful memories from a time when kid’s telly was great, men were men, women were women, and puppets were puppets. Maybe it’ll answer the burning question – ‘Why did Bungle wear a towel when he got out of the bath, but walked around naked the rest of the time?’
So sit back, dip into the book and let your misspent childhood catch up with you once again. Now, where did I put my mallet?, I feel like bonking somebody over the head with it and screaming blaaaaaaah! in their ears.

Cheers, Dean, The Classic Children’s TV Quiz Book has opened up a new social chapter of my life. I can now steer any conversation around to children’s TV and rattle off fascinating fact after fact I’ve gleaned from this tome of tots, toddlers and teenage telly testimony, impressing anyone within earshot.
For example, I rang Ant and said, ‘Morning Anthony, not to be confused with the late Anthony Jackson who played Fred Mumford in the first series of Rentaghost in 1976.’
You see what I did, I flawlessly steered the conversation around to a subject I was knowledgeable in after having read the Rentaghost section of The Children’s TV Quiz Book. I not only impressed my friend, I also imparted my learning to him. I put the icing on the cake when I sang the entire theme tune to Rentaghost to Ant and by the end of it he’d hung up – presumably overwhelmed with euphoric nostalgia for his youth. Indeed, the man Ant is now feverishly banging on my front door with a cricket bat in his hand. Bless, he wants to play in the park like the youthful carefree young scallywags we once were. Enjoy the book, I’m off to play out!

Be warned, be very warned: Dean’s Classic Children’s TV Quiz Book is going to cause you a whole load of brain-aching, memory-scraping, hair-pulling moments. You may very well find yourself angrily pacing the house for hours as the answer to a question like - which actor played Fred Mumford in the first series of Rentaghost – is on the tip of your tongue! However, you may, like me, be pushed over the edge when some annoying git rings you up and gives you the answer before it comes to you! What were the chances of that?!
And even if you don’t recall some of the many many programmes mentioned in the book, there’s still a boat load of facts and figures about the children’s telly of days gone by that’ll keep riveted for hours upon end. This is nostalgia at it’s best, so get comfortably seated on your Raleigh Chopper, open a can of Top Deck, a packet of Spangles, and dip into The Children’s TV Quiz Book and discover just how misspent your youth was.

At last, the definitive quiz book for classic children’s telly! Now we can spend endless hours arguing with our friends and family about what colour Roobarb was, whether Hong Kong Phooey was called Henry or Penry, and of course what ever happened to Mr Bronson’s wig!
Our old chum Dean has spent millions and millions of hours researching this book. Trawling the internet for facts. Ringing, emailing and blackmailing the stars of yesteryear for titbits of information. Watching DVDs and videos of every kid’s show ever made – especially the bits of Tiswas where Sally James was wearing sexy boots. Actually, we heard that was the only thing he watched.
So if you have fond memories of Rent-A-Ghost, Swap Shop, Happy Days, Grange Hill and thousands of other terrific telly, then by the time you’ve read this book those memories will be even … fonderer.
And, after dipping into this book, you’ll be able to trick your chums into saying the word Crackerjack! so you can quickly shout Crackerjack! back! By Noel Edmonds’ beard this Children’s TV Quiz book is a tome of boundless fun and heart warming nostalgia!
And by the way, Mr Bronson’s wig is currently driving a cab, but has just written it’s autobiography ‘That Grumpy Bugger Was Beneath Me.’

I spent 50 years involved in children's television, and so I am delighted that Dean Wilkinson has compiled a book with 1,000 questions on the subject. Even if you are not a quiz lover, you will no doubt learn a lot about children's TV in trying to answer these questions. Dean tells me that I am included in the quiz, and so I shall certainly read the book to see if I can answer these questions about myself!

This will keep the kids, and adults, entertained for hours as they wrack their brains trying to remember characters, scenes, locations, catch phrases and dates from their favourite children's TV shows.

Apart from Dean giving me a super mention (on page 24!) it is a brilliant quiz book for all the family!

What a great present for any child (from 7 to 77). Every page is packed with brilliant questions that will test even the most knowledgeable. And it is such fun to recall some great TV moments. I love it!

This is a terrific and entertaining collection. I’m sure it will become a definitive reference book on Kid’s TV. It also reminds us of the richness and variety of Kid’s TV in the UK and underlines the need to support it in the future. Kid’s TV is under real threat at present and we need to make sure that the book which covers the next 50 years of programmes will be as rich as this one.
