Kevin's book bought back a hell of a lot of memories, and it made a very good read. My, oh my Kevin has done a lot of research that I would of never of thought of. I guess I am in a position to give you a quote on Carry On Figures, as I was one of the first actresses to bear mine for real in a film. The facts are: I loved being in the film, and working with the people I worked with, Kenny Connor and Sidney James were two of the nicest people I ever met, and I consider myself so lucky I had the chance to work with them. Statistics: those films will go on until there are no figures or statictics in the universe. They are DEFINITIVE, as all round escapism, and ENTERTAINMENT for all the family - and I'm not sure we'll ever have anything like them again. Kevin has spent much time compiling this book, a true gem and a must for any Carry On fan!

I am still reeling from the amount of information, facts and figures your book contains. It must be the most comprehensive work of it's kind. The information you provide on the cost of the productions is in itself quite staggering. Even converting to today's money you would be hard put to mount an end of the pier show. Of course I only had a very minor roles to play in these films, with cameo parts in Don't Lose Your Head, Henry and At Your Convenience, but how I enjoyed playing them. Your book reminded me of how many of these wonderful films were made and how much I loved watching them.

The Official Carry On Book of Statistics by Kevin Snelgrove is a cornucopia of information - large trivial - about one of this country's greatest, and certainly most long-running, comedy exports. Everything you could possibly wish to know is here. The miscellany ranges from the fascinating (stars' dates of birth and birthplaces), the odd (films worked on over a specific period), and the mundane (vehicle registration plates). Kevin Snelgrove clearly knows his stuff, with basic lists such as stars and their Carry On appearances (broken down into number of scenes if you're interested), order of billing (in which the actors' popularity can be ascertained at a glance), and film locations (including distance travelled from Pinewood) easily the most interesting. Supporting actors are also given their due, with an extensive listing of pretty much everyone who has ever featured in a Carry On, even down to brief single appearances. Sometimes, the facts are rather over-emphasised - such as a tally of Carry On films, TV shows and stage productions expressed as a list, as percentages, and again as a bar chart. It's easy to misinterpret some lists too, such as the ones for Big Three Scriptwriters and The Big Three Overall Scriptwriters, in which the same three writers have apparently differing scores. But there's more than enough here to satisfy the most fact-hungry fan, with an especially exhaustive film-by-film listing at the back. On top of this, Snelgrove has assembled a great many Carry On actors to share their reminiscences, most of which shed new light on old stories, with almost all of them displaying huge affection for this iconic series.

The Official Carry On Facts, Figures and Statistics is a great read. It is very well put together and a must read for Carry On Fans. I myself discovered so many facts I was not aware of although I was myself in Carry On Emmanuelle, playing the Doctor. Needless to say it was full of fun with Suzanne Daniel providing such a glamorous addition and Kenneth was at his element. I am glad that Kevin has put in so much details of all the films that the book will stay as a memorial for ever to all those involved in the series. I hope he will add on details of Carry On London as an addendum when the film is released.

Since watching Carry On Camping as a 10-year-old girl nothing since has ever seemed as funny. Terry Scott in his ridiculous long shorts (or were they short longs) ... Charles Hawtrey try just being ... well - Charles Hawtrey try and the inimitable Kenneth Williams being pursued by Hattie Jacques in his usual 'camp' manner ... Oh dear ... no pun intended ... I would say about my experience of working on the Carry on Columbus film was that it was such an enormous privilege and honour for a girl of my age then to be working with some of the best comic geniuses of our time. And also to be doing a film that was such a huge part of British comedy history. All Carry On fans should read this book.

I read and enjoyed the book. There was so much in it that I never knew about! I was a Supporting artist for 32 years and worked on over 800 productions but it was always fun to work on the Carry Ons ... I was always made to feel welcome by all the cast and crew and when I got to know Sid and Bernie, I'd sit in with them and play poker in between takes. I got to work with Babs (EastEnders) some years later and she was still nice. The films I worked on were: Camel, Khyber, Henry, Convenience, Abroad and Dick.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It answers all the questions a Carry-On fan could possibly want to know and the little personal anecdotes from the cast are very amusing. What an amazing piece of research and information, I suppose people do want all that knowledge somewhere. How gob smacked Kenneth Williams would have been if he could know there was such a tome as yours going to be written in the future! The great skill of the production team of the 'Carry On' films was that they were amazingly clever at casting. They chose people of personality who were very quick worker's and fine comedians in their own right.

It made my day when Kevin asked me to write the forward to this book ‘The Official Carry On Facts, Figures & Statistics’. The highlight of my career was appearing in the Carry On’s. I did eight pictures spanning twenty-one years (1971-1992) - a big chunk of my life. We could never have dreamt that the characters created in the films would still be popular some fifty years on, our director Gerald Thomas was the best ever; the whole team were competent, professional and great fun to work with. I feel that if anyone deserves a knighthood it is Peter Rogers for his contribution to the British film industry. In his ninety’s he still has his office at Pinewood Studios. I still love watching the Carry On’s on television, they still make me laugh and long may it be so. Believe it or not the films were all made in the record time of six weeks. We all enjoyed them so much it was like playtime at school! Even though most of the team are gone now, they will live on forever on the screen. Kevin has done a brilliant job compiling this book - rather him than me as wht do I know about statistics? Other than 38-24-36 – Tee Hee!
